Cheddar Chive Biscuits

A baked biscuit, is a hard to say NO treat. Harder it gets if it is a cheddar chive biscuit. Promise, these will soon become your total favorite as the new side of every dish.

  • Yields: 30 biscuits


8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup chives or green onions

6 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup baking powder

1 tsp salt

3 stick butter

2 1/2 cups buttermilk

melted butter


1Preheat the oven to 425 F.

2Add the flour, baking powder, salt, cheese and most of the sliced chives to a food processor. Pulse the ingredients until they are all combined.

3Add the cold butter and pulse the mixture until crumbs seem to form; add the buttermilk and continue to pulse.

4When everything has come together, use an ice cream scoop or a spoon to place small balls of dough into a lightly greased baking sheet.

5Bake for 12-15 min or until golden.

6Before serving, brush biscuits with melted butter and sprinkle extra chives on top.

  • for a twist, substitute chives for bacon
  • if you do not a have a food processor available, use a pastry cutter or tackle it by hand
